I absolutely love nature.
I love spending time just driving around praying and meditating as I take in the sights all around me. In fact, that's where I'm headed after I post this. I found that spending that quality time alone with nothing but God and my thoughts really allowed me to hear His voice. It was always so timely and so simplistic. I remember feeling so overjoyed that I absolutely had to tell someone about it. When I'm able to drown out the noise all around me, the clarity comes almost easily.
One particular rainy day, I had a coworker who came dragging herself in overflowing with complaints about how horrible the day was. When I looked out the window, she wasn't wrong. It was dark, gloomy, rainy, windy, and cold. Just one of those days where you were better off staying at home under a blanket. But this day became one of my "God has a sense of humor" moments. This coworker, came in from the rain so upset. She was drenched and had even dropped her cell phone in a puddle. It wasn't a good day for her. This coworker of mine is also one who, admittedly, trouble seems to gravitate toward. Everyone at work says if it's going to happen, it'll happen to her. And that day, it seemed to be true. Later on, I stepped out for lunch. As I prepared to do so, I received a warning from my coworker. "It is miserable out there!" But as I stepped outside, it was beautiful! There was a break in the storm. So instead of darkness, rain, and gloominess, it was bright! Birds chirping and gentle breeze blowing. Beautiful! And it stayed that way until this coworker prepared to step out for her lunch break. The sun vanished. The clouds, strong winds, and rain returned. It was truly mystifying to watch.
Although there are innumerable explanations for the shift in weather, I grabbed hold of my memory of this day and continue to remind myself of it because it showed me in a very simplistic way the value of a sunny day. And with that, I knew that when I reached the point of sharing a blog or even a book (I'm working on it!), it would be Drops of Sunshine!
So in the future, my posts will prayerfully provide that glimpse of sun needed for your gloomy days. Thanks for reading!
Stay Sunny!
